What we store, and what we don't.

Pantry Plan is in pre-alpha. Most of your data lives on your device. This page is the plain-English version.

The short version

  • No account. No email or password collected.
  • Your list, recipes, and pantry live on your device.
  • We only contact a server when you import a recipe from a URL, and we do not keep it.
  • No analytics scripts. No third-party trackers. No advertising.

What's stored on your device

Pantry Plan saves your shopping list, saved recipes, pantry entries, and preferences (unit system, accent color, kitchen name) to your browser's storage on your device. Clearing your browser data clears Pantry Plan with it.

If you install Pantry Plan to your home screen (iOS or Android), the home-screen install gets its own storage scope. Your data is not automatically shared between Safari and the home-screen app on iOS.

What's sent to servers

The only network call Pantry Plan makes by default is to our recipe-import service when you paste a URL. The flow is:

  1. Your device sends the URL to our import service.
  2. The server fetches the page and looks for structured recipe metadata first. Most major recipe sites publish it; when present, no AI is involved.
  3. If the page has no structured metadata, the server uses an AI extraction step to pull the recipe out of the HTML. We do not store this request.
  4. The clean recipe is returned to your device. That's the end of the trip.

We do not log URLs you import, and we do not keep a copy of imported recipes anywhere outside your device.

What we don't do

  • No analytics scripts of any kind. No third-party trackers.
  • No advertising. No ad pixels. No referral cookies.
  • No third-party fonts that phone home. We bundle our own.
  • No selling, sharing, or licensing of any data to anyone.

Shared kitchens, coming soon

A shared Kitchen will let two or more devices share the same shopping list, recipes, and pantry in real time. That step will require creating an account, which means your data syncs to a cloud database we host. The upside: if you lose your phone, your recipes come with you. When shared kitchens land, we'll update this page with the specifics.

How we keep the lights on

We don't sell data, and we don't run ads. To cover server costs as the app grows, we'll explore donations or optional pro features (paid themes, advanced tools). Your data is never the product.
